Brand Strategy

FlyHouse is an aviation company connecting private jet owners with charterers. In a market where charter companies take a sizeable chunk for their services, FlyHouse aims to break the cycle and connect owners directly with prospective clients.

Started in Los Angeles, FlyHouse aims to disrupt the current private jet travel.

The FlyHouse website

Concept and Solution

FlyHouse was started in 2021 and in early 2022 I was brought on to help create the branding for the company. FlyHouse will be an app that owners and prospective charters alike will be able to connect on to purchase private flights. Private jet owners want the host company to take less money from their charter profits and charters want to be able to pay less to charter flights. This is where FlyHouse steps in.

FlyHouse cuts out the middleman by connecting private jet owners with charters directly through a system where charterers set their desired rate for their flight(s) and owners bid on their proposed rates. Charterers end up with a cheaper flight than they had originally planned and owners end up making more money since the profits from the charter go directly to them. A win-win for both parties.

Concept and Solution

In thinking about the branding, I wanted to create a look and feel that felt both timeless and modern to capture this new venture in crowd-sourced aviation. Simple, clean lines evoked a structure, and I chose black and white imagery to give the brand an upscale, luxurious feel.

To round out the look, I chose the yellow that was first used in the creation of the FlyHouse logo to add a pop of color to the website, app, and collateral material.

In a world where flight can seem everyday, FlyHouse is what brings the private jet experience its spark.

Implementation

When it came time to bring in the development team, I felt my knowledge of having worked with the FlyHouse team for months gave me great insight into how the app should actually look. Having created the website, I also took on the task of creating the FlyHouse app schematics, accounting for the details that would need to be reflected for both the private jet owner as well as the charterer.

These theme of timelessness, luxury, and sleekness prevailed in other collateral such as documents, employee manuals, and agreements.

Color Palette

In researching other aviation companies, many of them had simple color palettes, sometimes with a chosen hue of varying brightness. As previously stated, I wanted the brand to have a sense of timelessness so a simple black, with varying shades of gray left room for the imagery and information to make its mark. Additionally, it elevated the brand to give it that exclusive feel.

Yellow was chosen to stand out, as FlyHouse does in the aviation industry. It is bright, optimistic, and is meant to convey to both the owner and charterer using the service, that they stand out too.

Typography

In keeping with the theme of aviation and timelessness, FlyHouse needed font families that conveyed these themes.

Cormorant Garamond is featured in FlyHouse material only in italics to convey forward motion, the timeless feeling of a jet taking off to the skies.

Zeitung Micro Pro was selected for the body text for its legibility and no nonsense profile. FlyHouse takes itself, as well as its clients seriously and Zeitung helped drive that point home.
